Weird or random facts so far

  1. They call band-aids or plasters 'OK棒'. SUCH a weird name for band-aids. I have been needing them because I wear flat-heeled pumps around. And they blister my heels and my toes. So ...on goes the 'OK棒' and I am OK *Charis flashes her most Asian peace sign!
  2. The lady in charge of promotional stuff can't pronounce 'moisturizer'. I learned from her that it's called ‘乳液’. ’双手霜‘ is hand cream. I win...coz I can pronounce them. :P
  3. I learnt how to say ‘政府’ in Taiwanese [Hokkien]. Jierng Hu, both in 第四声[4th sound in Mandarin].
  4. 'Heh -Ko' for us is ' Heh - Gao' for them. [I'm talking those little lobster like prawns]
  5. People are very considerate at the MRT/LRT or whatever they-are-called-trains. I have seen people unfailingly give up their places for women with kids, the elderly, or people with heavy stuff. And they have campaign posters everywhere, stating 'Mobile Phone etiquette: Don't talk loudly on the MRT's. Consider sending a text/sms instead'
  6. Bus tickets are cheap. MRT train fares are pricey.
  7. People are a little short tempered around here. But generally polite about it. Weird combination.
  8. People don't like being called 'Uncle' or 'Aunty'. They prefer 'older brother' or 'older sister'. Weird as to call someone my parents's age 'older bro/sis'.

Fear and Faith

I wish I could get rid of this feeling of underlying fear that grips me once in a while. After every high there is an inevitable crash. Or when I wake up, it's really hard to face the day not quite knowing what you should do or what the goal is in the end.  I can picture this trembling kid in my mind, who's quite desperate to cling on to something for safety and comfort. And that kid is me. But the kid's alone. And there's no one to actually to hang on to, and nothing to hug, not even a pillow. But the kid is also wary of clinging on to anything because that might prove disastrous, as it has in the past. You get entangled with unnecessary things or people So,  Kid is stuck with just holding nothing. Waiting.  I mean, it's not like God never warned or foretold that this journey would be lonely, I'd be seemingly alone, but He would be with me. I would look like I was wobbly but He would uphold me. My gifted singer/songwriter/keyboardist friend Green Lee sat down with me to re-arrange it together (guess which other song we used as a base for the two tracks 😁 ?).
