2003 --> 2009

In 2003, C3L: Had to depend on her parents to hear from God about which country to step foot into for her university studies. Father felt peace about Australia instead of the States Committed to put God as first priority at the First Priority Conference in KL Mourned for 3 weeks about leaving in April for an unknown place called Adelaide instead of Brisbane in June. Cried and moped. Till her mom told her off and assured her that if it wasn't for God's direction, she wouldn't let her go so soon. It was clearly the will of God, so I should stop being a sook. She stopped. Loved Adelaide the minute she arrived. Was naive and bright-eyed Heard God's voice strongly for the first time for herself, and it was about evangelism Liked meeting lots of new friends in college and churches. Fell in love with a Christian guy who was her best friend and dated him Was much more expressive and emotional Fell in love with God's word. Ate it hungrily. Grew spiritually in leaps and bound...

This was in the Eureka newsletter....Will miss Eureka...

Keep bleeding love

I'm taking a break from packing. So tired.It hurts my back. I had a ball of a time yesterday. My first Christmas in Australia. I missed my family a lot, because I've never been away for Christmas in my life. But this time, I decided to give it a try as it would probably be the last year I get to celebrate it in Brisbane. It would have been heaps boring. But thanks to Rachelle, it was a lot of fun. Rach kindly invited my housemates and I to join her family Christmas celebration at the Sunshine Coast. The weather was absolutely great! Sunny, cool, breezy, and the sea water was at the BEST temperature for swimming. Aunty prepared HEAPS of food. Prawns, chicken, turkey, oysters, puncit, fruit and cream, steak and pork chops. We swam and napped and ate and swam and ate and napped. You get the idea. Puji, Alex, Julie and JB were there as well. It made the day ... interesting. We ended the day with a party at Neru's new house. Kev cooked great lasagna and curry chicken. Neru made ...

Was browsing on Amazon

I was reading reviews of Brooke Fraser. I'll talk about how I feel about Brooke Fraser's music next time.There were many good reviews of her music. But I was quite annoyed to find ppl who wrote this: What the songs are like , April 22, 2005 A Kid's Review I wrote the review titled 'Try some Christian music instead'. Well, I am returning with part to to tell you about the songs. The first song "Arithmetic" might be talking about God, but doesn't make much sense. The music is pretty good though. The second song "Saving the world" probably talks about saving people (as in, for Christ) but doesn't outright say so. And you might be disspointed by the non-Christian sort of song "Still In Love", which isn't about being in love with Christ. "Lifeline" is to God, and is a pretty good song. "Waste Another Day" has no message at all, and a rather not so exciting tune. "Without You" is a song to Brooke...

Thoughts before I crash into bed 2

I'm tired and I should be sleeping. I need to spend more time with God. This weekend away with Rach and Julie in Caloundra should be good. Heaven help me when I drive there....yikes. 1 and a half hours drive. Crazy. I've not driven so far on my own in Australia [3 hour-long drivse many times when I drove down to Melb but I had 4 other ppl in teh car with me]. It seems surreal that the launch happened 2 weeks ago and I'm leaving in 2 weeks. I haven't packed. HELP!!! I spent too much time on Facebook these 2 days. Thanks to the generous bro who shouted my 'last supper'. Thanks to my covenant friends who have quietly made things for me to bless me. I notice. God is better than I think. Good night

Strong....

I had a great dinner tonight with my greatest friends in Brissy. Great food and great company. The topics of conversation were stimulating as usual. It got me thinking again, about strength. I am both very strong and very weak. Most people will not think 'weak' or 'soft' when they remember me. I guess, to some extent, I am driven and focused. Generally responsible and productive. These words do not describe soft. But I feel so much, so deeply it is sometimes scary. The amount of pain and sometimes esctasy I feel is quite extreme. I'm not a rock wall. But as a friend pointed out today, resilience is what defines me. Nothing ever REALLY gets me totally down and crushed. Always bouncing back up, sometimes with anger, sometimes with forgiveness, sometimes with gritted determination. The more I progress in life, I find that I am getting just a little stronger. Iron and steel being wrought in my make-up. And the oil of grace keep them from rusting and breaking. The flexib...

Not light, not particularly happy

Been thinking. My music and lyrics has always had an angsty ache to it. I've never been able to write feel-good campfire songs like Colbie Callait. I suppose I take life too seriously for my own good sometimes. Music has always been about expression for me...and it's usually an expression of deep deep pain and brokenness. Always hopeful, because there's always God. So it's never quite in the pits of despair. Perhaps it's a side that many don't often see. I'm usually really efficient and focused. John Eldredge once mentioned that there are 2 things that can pierce the heart. Beauty and affliction. I think I'd like my songs to reflect both. Because I'm not satisfied to tickle ears. I want to jab straight at the heart.Because music that speaks to me jabs at mine, all the time. So my music is not for one to tune out of the pains and frustrations of the world. It is to help ppl face it squarely, add beauty to the equation and see redemption in it all. I o...
