Full time hours

I'm going to another interview on Monday 11am so do keep me in your prayers. When people usually ask me, "Where do you work?", it's really hard to answer. I work all around Brisbane. Now, I might take on a new job that adds on 10-15 more hours of work a week[shuddering with anticipation and a little fear]. This agency links you with different high schools/primary schools in the mornings to teach students music. It will be a new experience but it's always good to challenge myself. The new place in Hendra was challenging and still is. I deal with all sorts of Aussie people, including weird personalities, really slow kids, 'actress' moms etc. In Sunnybank, the kids that I deal with are pretty normal Asian kids. Nowadays, I don't even think that teaching in Sunnybank feels like work anymore because I'm so used to the people and the routine.:) Teaching has been interesting. It is quite a wearying job because you are dealing with people all the time...

Update: Priorities

Ehem. Someone was hinting to me I should update my blog. Well, at least she reads it. Hehe. I was so encouraged I decided to do it straightaway! What's been happening? Well. Life i guess. My high point this week was convincing a new convert not to work on Sunday and to make God a priority[well hopefully getting to top priority] in her life. It was so difficult. I was trying to anticipate her response when I met up with her on Monday. I know that the several times i was first 'exhorted' or lectured by my shepherd I really reacted badly internally. Even now, I don't take correction that well at first. But I am trying veryvery hard with God's grace to liten to anything humbly, whether it's a leader or a younger person trying to teach me. This new convert made me feel ashamed. She was open, receptive and willing to listen and quite cheerful. Very fast to respond as well. People's lives are SO worth investing into. I love people. Ps Lai Ling talked to about r...

TMCSG = Typical Malaysian Chinese Smart Girl

I was browsing through some friendster pages. I saw a couple of my old friends. And I was thinking, what a different life I have, though our roots were so similar... Typical malaysian-chinese smart girl, I would come from a middle-class family. My parents would have sent me to a good school. I would have gotten straight or almost straight A's for all my public examinations. I would have been sent to piano lessons, ballet lessons and lots of tuition. I would have been in the debating teams - I would have been the elocution and poetry representative for all languages, I would have been active in societies but not TOO active for fear compromising my commitement to academia....If I was christian, I would be involved in church and youth groups and school fellowships. But again, not too much. Studies first. I would have been among the top students in school. I would have done medicine, pharmacy, or accounting. Or law, or engineering even. Let's see: TICK Middle clas family Piano/...

Post on Miranda's blog

This post of a post from Miranda's blog...:)....really convicts me. God has similarly promised me these things, not just once, but at least 3-4 times through different people. Once of the areas I have found hardest to surrender to God. But he is teaching me to wait. Those who wait upon the Lord will receive good things. Mr Wonderful Specially for all singles out there waiting for 'THE ONE'.... By Arlene Pellicane When I was in high school, I was blessed to have a lot of titles. Cheerleader. Honors Student. Student Body President. Youth Group Leader. But there was one title I was very displeased with. Dateless. I think I was the only one to graduate from high school without being asked out. No roller rink dates. No fast food jaunts. Nothing. But God had given me a promise. I went to a Christian school and one day after chapel, I was praying about my dateless state at the altar. To my surprise, the speaker came up to me and said, "I believe God has a message for you. He...

Selfish

I wrote a review over Driven by Eternity by John Bevere. Excellent Book. Recommended. Now listening to The Kingdom of Affabel. Selfish[the character] is the one that brings the most conviction. He got to heaven. He trusted in the Lord. He was influential on earth. But many things he did were 'for his own reputation, his own comfort and concerns, to protect himself'.Therefore, he suffered loss in eternal rewards. God really spoke to me: Charis, how many things and ministries you do are for your own reputation, comfort, protection? How many are done to build up others and for Me? I can honestly say that I do many things because of a genuine heart for God and his people. But many more mixed with selfish motives. God, change my heart. I want to successful, but the way You want me to be. It's really hard, God. But change my heart.

Volleyball, lack of exercise, and sweet weddings

The WAM BBQ last Monday was great! We had lots of yummy soba noodles and the typical sausages and bread. Salad, onions, the works. Thanks Sharon and Lucy for all the hard work! The highlight of the BBQ was the volleyball! I think it was Tim who brought a beat up volleyball and a couple of people started to play around the circle. Digging and setting the ball around. I joined them together with Amy. OOO.....I MISS VOLLEYBALL....I haven't really played for 4-5 years. There is a passion for it that runs through my veins. The passion that drove me to play it for more than 6 years. Sometimes to play 6 hours a day to prepare for competitive state-level competitions. I miss the games, the cheering for our school/zone/district squads, the trips to really far - off schools in the jungles, the sweat,everything..... The NEXT DAY however, PAIN PAIN PAIN....booohooo....I am so unfit. My thighs, abs, and rear all ACHED for 2-3 days. I really need to get back to jogging or dancing regularly. We...

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH........................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok. That's done. This is a thanksgiving post. After 2 and a half months of prayer, wrestling both in the spiritual realm and the world of realestate, my covenant friend can now stay legally in our house! When we first got this house[succesful rental application], it was because we prayed, and we claimed it. Against all odds, our application was approved. however, there was only 2 of us on the lease. When we wanted to get Peggy onto the lease, we hit MANY obstacles. Agents. Owner. Both were, to put it as mildly and charitably as possible, not quite reasonable. I cringed at every time I had to battle with them, call the RTA, face prejudice, face misunderstanding, misplaced accusations etc. We prayed fervently for the hand of God to move over the situation without having to resort to going to the Small Claims Tribunal. The first time we prayed as a household 2 and a half months ago, God said'It will be ...
