Salt

I am the salt of the earth. Currently the Taiwanese earth. I am making a difference by just being there. Thank you Andy Stanley for a great message. Now...to hunt out that Sermon on the Mount again...

Weird or random facts so far

They call band-aids or plasters 'OK棒'. SUCH a weird name for band-aids. I have been needing them because I wear flat-heeled pumps around. And they blister my heels and my toes. So ...on goes the 'OK棒' and I am OK *Charis flashes her most Asian peace sign! The lady in charge of promotional stuff can't pronounce 'moisturizer'. I learned from her that it's called ‘乳液’. ’双手霜‘ is hand cream. I win...coz I can pronounce them. :P I learnt how to say ‘政府’ in Taiwanese [Hokkien]. Jierng Hu, both in 第四声[4th sound in Mandarin]. 'Heh -Ko' for us is ' Heh - Gao' for them. [I'm talking those little lobster like prawns] People are very considerate at the MRT/LRT or whatever they-are-called-trains. I have seen people unfailingly give up their places for women with kids, the elderly, or people with heavy stuff. And they have campaign posters everywhere, stating 'Mobile Phone etiquette: Don't talk loudly on the MRT's. Consider sending a tex...

Another inspiring post by Perry Noble

Been feeling very very apprehensive about the coming move and slightly apathetic. Why am I doing this again? I constantly ask myself that question. God. You seriously have to roll the river over and give me some dry land.....All I see is the flooding river. And I feel so alone. But You already told me that, 4 years ago, that it would feel like that. Lonely. But You are with me. Why is it so hard to feel that? Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Surely goodness and mercy will follow me for the rest of my life... Leadership Is Tough – Part Two of Three March 15, 2010 Imagine with me for a second that you are an Israelite and have been wandering around in the desert for 40 years. All this time you’ve been hearing about a land that God had for you…one that flowed with milk and honey, that had wells you did not dig, houses you did not build and vinyards you did not plant that would all be yours. THEN you get to cross the Jordan River…you see God literally put an interstate highway throu...

Victoria Boyson: He Will Keep You and Your Destiny

Thanks to a good brother, I have this article - one of the prophetic words for 2010. This one is from Victoria Boyson. It's good stuff! Victoria Boyson: He Will Keep You and Your Destiny When the Lord begins to fulfill our destiny, the enemy will try and destroy it in its infancy. "The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that he might devour her child..." (Revelation 12:4). There are many similarities between giving birth to a child in the natural and giving birth to our destiny in the spirit realm. There is a time of conception, of waiting, of labor and there is also delivery. In the spirit, when we give birth to the promises of God for our lives, our destiny is in its most vulnerable state. It is then that the enemy will try to gain access to devour it. At the moment our destiny is birthed, it is at its most helpless state. We can do nothing for ourselves, and if we were left alone, we would surely be destroyed. Just like a newborn child ...

Can't do this alone

I must say, taking even mini-steps towards a dream is .... I was going to use the word that got the Aussie Tourism Ad in trouble with the Brits... But I won't. It is just sweat, blood and tears hard. There! That was acceptable surely... I wonder how people do it with such optimism. And I wonder if anyone can do it without God and without the support of people around them unless they are tough-as-a-bone cholerics who don't feel emotion and who yell 'off with his head' every time they meet an opponent. Struggling with self-doubt and God-doubt everyday. Doesn't help that Mr James in the Bible says that the double-minded person will not receive anything. I'm so frequently double-minded I don't know how I can receive. Sigh. Always always, the questions and doubts are twisting my stomach into knots. " Am I just delusional? Is this really worth it?" "I'm not good enough...I'm not talented enough....I don't sing well enough....I'm not ...

牽我的手

My favourite Hokkien worship song by Rev Lim Gee Tiong [

Love Alicia...but....

I've loved Alicia Keys since I was a teenager. She's gorgeous, talented, with an impeccable image of ghetto funkiness plus classy elegance. Love her voice and love her ideas. But....the lyrics....have more often than not been ...disappointing. I do think this article provides accurate critique of her work.
