My new boyfriend - Have you met him? He's called Mac Pro

If someone asked me who my boyfriend was now, it would be my Mac. If there was a country that I really belonged to, it would be the country of the Mac. I feel like I live, eat and breathe my Mac. It's where I connect with all my friends through Facebook. It's how I do my work through editing, notating etc. It's where I get my entertainment. It's where I store and listen to my podcasts, online bible and worship music. It's where all my memories (photos and videos) are. It's where my  thoughts are journalled. I bring it everywhere I go, almost. Of course, I have a back up boy-friend called EHD. External hard drive. HAHAHA. PS: Just a random point, but it's funny how different status posts on Facebook evoke the responses of different crowds. There's the photo crowd, who love stunning visuals. They click on every nice picture that you post. There's the 'encouraging word' crowd who like every godly, spiritual status that's up there. There...

And this made my day...

THIS  was unexpected and pleasant and encouraging. Thanks so much for the mention Jas!  Shout out to my friends [blogger or otherwise] who've never stopped encouraging me and believing in me. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! It has been quite an exhausting February. I'm now at Burger King, trying to make full use of the Wi-Fi and the air-conditioning. I was cheated out of 15 bucks just now by a taxi driver, and that got me a little grumpy. Also, my flight to Taipei is at 5.30pm. So now, I need to kill an hour or 2 before I head back to LCCT and bum around with all the 'budget-airliners'.  On the bright side, getting my passport/visa from the embassy today was quite a breeze. Thank you Daddy God for that. Everything went quite smoothly and the officer didn't give me much grief. I wish I could just stay a solid 6 months in Taipei this time, but looks like I'll be flying out to the States in April, or Malaysia in July, or both. So....argh . Never-mind. I need to s...

Evolution

Listening to: Innocent Eyes [Delta Goodrem] People change. Sometimes we change on purpose. Sometimes we are affected by our environments. Experiences change us - pleasant or difficult.  I find myself changing with the years, sometimes for the better, sometimes not. The last 1.5 years in particular have brought about much upheaval. Due to so much activity and busyness, I'm only starting to notice the transformations now I have a chance to reflect a little more quietly. I'm not sure I like what I see. 'Apple'-toting, app-fascinated young adult Owns a collection of shoes and clothes that are necessary for the moment,  but ultimately useless from an eternal perspective A lot more concerned about her body image and fitness these 2 years A little too jaded and cynical about marriage, love and the existence of a life-partner Less and less structured, less and less fond of routine and discipline.  I don't eat on time, don't sleep on time, don't do quiet time ...

Worn out....just a little

Can't believe I feel stretched and it's only February.  Traveling a lot is really no joke. In the past year, I've flown in and out of Taiwan 5-6 times, been to Singapore twice, Australia once, and flew/bussed domestically around Malaysia A LOT. Oh, I've also toured around the different cities in Taiwan.  The Word says those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. That is what I need to do for the next few days, even when I return to Taipei on Thursday. I also need to eat properly, sleep early and exercise.  It's been an interesting trip back. Update more about it later

Stylish Blogger Award

Thanks Jos  for this really random award :-) I am now a stylish blogger?? :-P It's been a long while since I've participated in this whole chain tagging thingy. Ok. Now for the rules:  1. Thank and link back to the person who gave you the award 2. Share 7 things about yourself 3. Award 15 other bloggers 4. Contact the bloggers and tell them about the award   7 things about Charis I really like food, but I'm more about quality than quantity. Japanese food is on top of the list. The idea of raw fish makes me drool.... I'm tri-lingual and bi-dialect? I speak and write English, Mandarin and Malay. I can converse in Hokkien [day-to-day conversation] and Cantonese [I understand it but my accent is  a little odd and speech considered 'halting'] Recently more and more into exercise and fitness. Needful when I like to eat. Usual routine includes aerobics and some light weights (Recent new year present to myself: a pair of dumb-bells] I can be very noisy and chatty...

矛盾

有些人真矛盾! Law of attraction: You will attract what you are 假如你要一位屬靈的配偶,你也要是一位屬靈的人。 有些人自己不想盡心盡力追求神的話, 又想和屬靈的人在一起。 那不是很矛盾嗎?

Being a Christ follower

I was talking to a friend today. The topic of being Christian came up. And I realized again that Christ is my life. Bring a Christ follower is my identity. Nothing should down-play that, whether it's my career or relationships. This means my life will always include: Living my life by the voice of God, be it prophetically, through the inner witness, or by the Bible The community of the church and life-groups [being plugged in] Sharing the gospel through different means. Directly or indirectly Ministry, whether it's through work or more conventional means Concern and action for social justice [eg. being a voice for the voiceless, eradicating poverty, education, charitable giving etc] Pressing in for the manifest presence/glory of God on this earth [felt love, signs and wonders, power] Prayer : supplication, communion and intercession A focus on the callings and visions of God for my life and lives of others A biblical world-view of life and eternity Help me, my Lord. I ...

Playing with CameraBag

I got this Camera Bag app as a gift from a friend. I've seen it being utilized by those with iphones, and now there's a version for computers too. It's my first 1-2 days of messing around with some filters. There are hundreds of possible combinations, so these are some simple attempts at making pics look more colourful.  Hor Fun in Alor Setar Gong Xi Fa Cai! 1001 considerations on the first day of Chinese New Year

Sistas in purple. Chinese New Year finery. Family with Grandma It's good to be back where it's not freezing and damp x100000000000. I don't mind the cold but I detest the rain.  Kedah state is at its hottest at the moment. Another type of unbearable. But in my house, it's fairly cool. And there's always air-conditioning if it hits 35 degrees and above. I've been having a lot 'tussle' conversation with Dad and Mom. It's such a mind-bloggling thing to try to be an artist. To start a brand. To start any form of business or entreprenuer-like activity. I'm freaking out and frequently asking myself why I'm bringing so much stress to myself and my family. But I remind myself that God is for me, and He set me on this path. He will guide me, though often I am not still enough to hear  His voice.  I just have this nagging feeling that if I settle for less, then somehow I'm missing how. I desperately want to let all the potential that God has...
