Guess how many female artists listed. 3. That's right....Whitney Houston, Alanis Morissette, and Shania Twain.
I've been thinking about this for a while. Are men more talented at 'doing' stuff compared to females? Why are there so many male multi-instrumentalists? Male chefs? Male Fashion designers? I mean..cookery and fashion are female 'worlds'. But they have males on the top rung of the ladder of success. Somewhere somehow I read about men and their hobbies. They take their hobbies so seriously because they need to be in control of something somehow, and achieve something. That's why they can't just 'cook', they need to be a chef! They won't sew or draw generally, but if they do it's about being the renowned designer.
I think, in general, men have this extreme drive about hobbies, things or abilities they love that I don't see so much in women. Not that it doesn't exist. But how many girls spend 20 hours a day playing computer games compared to boys? How many like their technological toys as much as boy? how many can play every instrument in a band? In uni, it was the guys who were either unbelievably lazy, or the ones who practised like maniacs.
I confess I'm a bit envious. Men seemed more preprogrammed to obsess about something. And with that, they become either jailbirds and druggies, or top musos/designers, scientists etc. In relation to my field of work, I see male artists all over the world who can do so much I can't do. Sigh. I want to be able to play everything, and WANT to play everything. Not just force myself to practise, but have a inner burning drive to actually do it. I want to be able to produce and engineer too. I basically want to be superwoman. Since there are quite a few supermen.
But I have to accept my limitations and yet stretch past them at the same time. God help. You did not make me a man. Can you show me how I can offer my gifts to you best as a woman?
