It's been an interesting journey of navigating around Youtube. Right now I'm sort of at the bottom of the food chain, so I'm feeling my way around how to edit, how to entertain, how to promote, and whether I want to do it all in the end. No harm trying and learning. Some reflections:
- I love the user-friendliness of iMovie on my Mac. Every time I edit a new video, I learn something new quite easily through the online manual. It has been a lot of fun. Dealing with both visuals and music keeps me much more interested than sometimes music itself.
- I don't know how to gain popularity. It's something I never knew how to do since I was in school. I don't know how to be 'cool', I don't know how to entertain people (being a pretty serious person), I don't know how to 'socialise' in a very pointed way, I don't really know to make myself beloved. And this is a problem right now when you're trying to 'sell' either a product or yourself.
- One generally has to be extreme or controversial to make people take notice. Normal doesn't cut it. As mommy says, usually artists or entertainers strive to be anything but ordinary, even if it means grotesque and ugly (Lady Gaga anyone?)
- I don't know how these you-tubers who post every few days do it...it's tiring to think of something creative all the time.
- Oh, Lik Ik says I've improved in natural-ness. That's nice to hear....that not everything goes downhill (Random note: Producer said my Chinese has improved, even without me noticing it. Well, they do say that your environment shapes you).
