My first full-length Mandarin hymnal album is out! It was released on Sept 1, and it is officially in all Christian bookstores in Taiwan. It is also in some mainstream CD stores and bookstores like Eslite Bookstore 誠品. Last week, it was also shipped to Christian bookstores in Hong Kong and Singapore. Hopefully, it will be on the racks soon in Malaysia too!
"Give me Jesus 只要耶穌"
Kinda surreal. I have been working for 2 years on my personal album but suddenly birthed this hymnal album in 2.5 months: 2 months of music production, half a month of shoots, designing and manufacturing. That is pretty fast, considering that T and I produced all the tracks with the help of vocal producer, Hao Ku on 6 tracks. I also arranged the strings for 8 tracks. T gave one track a full Enya-meets-Braveheart electronic treatment. We also did one short acapella breather.
Well, since then I've been doing a couple of promo stints here and there. Not terribly busy, but occupied enough. I like this picture of me 'pretending' to sing live. The album design, styling and photos were all decided for me. I didn't really have too much say in the process. It was both a relief as well as annoying for me. A relief because I didn't need to bother about it. Annoying, because sometimes things were decided that I was not enthusiastic about.
But it was like having a very mild taste of what it is like to be signed to record company. The company I work for gives me a lot of freedom compared to normal management/record companies. But there are still some things that they decide because they are footing most of the bill.
I'm pretty happy overall with the quality of the album, as well as the design and the textures of the product. I thank God for this opportunity to compile all my experience at GOODTV for the past 3 years into an album that is heartfelt, simple but hopefully beautiful.

Random? I know. But it was a great opportunity to talk about Malaysia and Taiwan,
as well as recall all the different things I had to get used to as a foreigner in this country.
