The 20th of Sept went by quite smoothly. Yep, that was the day of our wedding celebration in Taipei. I might put up a separate post about wedding celebrations in each of my home cities at a later stage (fingers crossed). What I will happily do is share about our belated honeymoon trip to Japan. We stayed in Osaka and travelled around the Kansai area in between, visiting Kyoto and Kobe. It was my first time to Japan and it was T's first time to the Kansai area (he had only been to Tokyo before). I was pretty excited, as Japanese cuisine tops my list. Could not wait to see and try everything in Japan!
We arrived in Osaka around 2pm. Osaka is an hour ahead of Taipei (and I only found that out after realising the time on my watch lagged behind my iPhone. Ha. Fail…). We took the airport limousine bus to the city, which pretty much landed us at Namba Station, where our hotel was situated.
Here are some snippets of Day 1!
After leaving out luggage at the hotel,we set out for a quick lunch. Due to the wedding and family being in Taipei the week before, we had barely done any homework about Osaka. So we decided to take our chances and just stroll around near the hotel.I was surprised to see how quiet this part of Osaka was, because all I've heard about Japan was crowds and very little living space. Osaka seems to quite spacious and not that densely populated.
We searched nearby for a place to eat and stopped here at this little shop.
The shop served simple lunch sets of rice and noodles.
Mountain Yam rice and Soba noodles with salad, appetizers and a little caramel pudding
Fresh and simple stuff.
The best thing was the gorgeous pudding!
T loves the range of booze available at convenience stores
Japanese society is known for their weird fetishes.
Anime porn being one of them?
Convenience stores have great quality desserts
Panorama of the area we were wandering about
Our little hotel room. Served us well for almost a week.
The famous Dotonburi (shopping/eating area)
Bright lights, big city!
The alleys are beautiful at night
Another pano pf the Dotonburi area
Our first dinner place
Okonomiyaki!
This was the 'supreme' with beef tendon, shrimp, pork belly, squid etc!
Cheers! Plum wine and beer respectively
We explored the area for a bit after dinner, and then went home to crash as we were really exhausted. So concluded Day 1. Many more wonderful days were to come!
