The long ardous journey of this album.....

I like this photo. Depicting a journey... Jaben, Sam and I "It's been a long and winding journey" [quoting Guy Sebastian], and I really don't know when I will finally arrive. Sheesh. The day I can say, "And I'm finally here tonight" seems very far away. In the beginning of this year, I went through the tiresome process of deciding how I wanted to record my albums, particularly my Mandarin album. I often felt paralysed when different people suggested different  and usually opposite approaches. In the end, after countless conversations and prayers, I decided to work with Jeff and my American buddies instead of other top-end arrangers. I've always wanted to record an album with live people [not just the computer], and have everything as organic and natural as possible. The downside to the organic approach is that everything is done really really slowly. A lot of things are not in my control because I am not doing things in the standard 'professio...

Twists and turns

Life has too many of them. One really doesn't end up where one expects. I have been evaluating my current situation, and the people around me. 6 months earlier, I would have been astounded if you showed me some of the pictures of myself now. Of the people who are now close friends. Of the things I am doing. Yet it wasn't where I was headed 6 months ago.

Simple love

Omni Kids Impulsively, I told 以琳 [black jacket] that I would visit them this Sunday, because I wasn't on worship this week, and I haven't seen the dance team kids since the tour ended in August. I do keep in touch online with them, but I thought to myself, if I profess to care for them, I should see them outside the tour too. Thank God today was sunny. The rain has been driving me bonkers. Literally. No wonder people in grey and cold countries are prone to suicide and bad tempers. But today's weather was perfect. Sunny and cold. The kids belong to the Eternal Light Presbyterian Church. I was punctual today, and surprised that the service only lasted 1.5 hours. That's really short compared to all the churches I've been serving/attending/visiting. The 2 sisters 以琳 and 以雯 sat next to me. After service, all the kids I knew gave me a big hug each. It was heart-warming. These kids might be young teenagers [Chun Yan is a university student in his 20's, but still act...

New Videos

Recent cover, 'If it kills me' by Jason Mraz. I know I know, I haven't done a youtube vid in months. Since the Malaysian and HK Omni tour, the consequent Taiwan tour, and then the involvement in GOOD TV and I'M worship projects, I have barely had time to breathe. Hope that I can produce a Christmas video after Shanghai. 04:23 樹 [Tree] One of my favourite worship songs by Justin Rizzo. A series of worship documentaries will be released by GOOD TV sometime next year. I played keys, sang back up, and band-led for the project [with about 10 songs] 'Light of the world', similar project [we are wearing the same clothes]

In Christ Alone

It's been a while since I've properly meditated about the person of Christ. About His life, His death and His resurrection. Sang this at church today. In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song; This Cornerstone, this solid Ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My Comforter, my All in All, here in the love of Christ I stand. In Christ alone! who took on flesh Fulness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones he came to save: Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied - For every sin on Him was laid; Here in the death of Christ I live. There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain: Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave he rose again! And as He stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me, For I am His and He is mine - Bought w...

Sticks and stones

How does one manage to have a thick skin in the workplace and yet remain open, vulnerable and loving at the same time? How does one remain sweet and feminine; yet strong, ambitious, motivated and resilient at the same time?  Of late, most people have told me that they would use, "Independant, self-sufficient, strong, reserved, in-control, tough, strict, focused, intelligent, 'knows-what-she-is-talking-about, professional" to describe their initial impression of me. For what I have to handle at work, that might not be a bad thing. But I'm wondering if I know how to switch this persona off anymore. I'm wondering if this persona is even right.  As a female, I think we are at our best when we are vulnerable and open...and sweet [not the sugary sweetness, but a sweetness of spirit]. But it's really hard to be vulnerable to a bunch of people you haven't known for a long time. I remember a leader telling me when I was still kind of naive and sweet and trusting ...
