Emeralds

"I see an emerald in a metal setting. An emerald in the darkness. The emerald is you. God has given you creativity and giftings. However, there is a film over the emerald. There is a hindrance, a covering. Something that hinders the emerald from shining out, from 'bursting forth' with light. Father, I pray that You remove all hindrances. You will take away everything that is hiding and covering up the light. Father I pray that her heart will beat with Yours. Lord, besides the creativity and giftings You have given her, You have given her compassion. A compassion that mirrors Your compassion for people. I pray her heart will beat with the rhythm of Your heart. She will know your heartbeat so intimately. Lord, whatever that causes her heart to be indifferent, I pray that You will take it away. She will be so connected to Your heart, and she will value what You value. She will live out Your purposes. Father, she has been bold to step out even when stepping out means hindra...

Tired

A little rant.  I'm tired of watching my weight.  I'm tired of being so conscious of flab.  I'm tired of feeling like a failure because I don't have abs. I'm not the TV/video/photo friendly 45 kilos.  I'm not size zero. I wasn't born with size zero genes.  It's not right that it should bother me so much but it does.  Almost everyone here tells me the same thing. If I want to release my music and start promoting it, I need to lose weight. I need to lose at least 5 kilos ( which will still not bring me to the magic 45 kilos).  I don't know how to lose 5 kilos without being terribly moody and hungry.  I will probably need to exercise 2 hours a day, and cut my calorie intake to 1000 and 1500 alternatively a day. And absolutely no desserts, no fatty food, no sleeping late.  The thing is, if I was an athlete, I'd be motivated to adhere to a strict diet and regime, no problem. Because my work is physical, and I see t...

'With Me 我身旁' EP and mini tour

Yes. I should have announced this earlier, but December was such a whirlwind of activity. I had barely any time to breathe. Plus, this EP was a last minute project. There are other reasons for not announcing stuff earlier. I might not be OCD, but I have my own perfectionist tendencies. I've always wanted to release a full-length album properly, in the old-fashioned way; along with 3 music videos, radio-play, a tour to promote it etc. I'm still working towards that ideal this year, but it has been taking a long time. The Fire-makers were engaged to hold an evangelistic concert in Pangkor in Dec. Since our air-fares were covered, I decided to do a few extra shows in Malaysia with my fellow Fire-maker musos. I realized that I probably needed some merchandise if I was going to play a few gigs, and decided to prepare a little EP as an 'appetizer' for the full-length album that is to come.  'With me 我身旁' EP cover  Check it out at HERE The EP ha...

An unexpected visit - Refreshed

"You know that prophetic word you gave me about the water tank? It changed my life" "Huh? Which one? Water tank? What did I say again" (I only vaguely remembered) "Aiyo! It's a word that changed my life! A turning point in my life and you don't remember?" "Woops. It has been a long time! But I remember it was at an evax coordinator prophetic word presbytery" "Yes! You said that I was giving out of half-empty and many pipes were connected to me. And I was running dry. You said I needed to be filled to overflowing by God to give out to people. I didn't tell the team then, but I was burning out. That word changed my life. That's when we started to move into the prophetic and healing and my whole traveling ministry came from there" "Oh wow~praise God!" Just conversation at dinner today.... because Peter dropped by today! Peter Truong, my old mentor. One of the most important people that fea...

Immortalizing dear friends on canvas

I went painting. Epic moment for me...because I haven't really painted anything since those torturous high school art lessons/exams. That's definitely more than 10 years ago. Yu-Chieh, a dear church friend of mine, and I decided to go painting on the day I found out my singer friend, Elin had passed away from cancer. And 2 weeks ago, Chia Yen had just passed on too. Two young, bright, beautiful mothers, wives and friends. 33 and 32 respectively. I had no words express my confusion and grief. It was then time to do something completely different and not routine. We dropped by Brendon's paint-ertainment cafe, The Escape Artist.  Starting off with the landscape colours.  I love this roller. It does wonders with acrylic paints. Creates gorgeous textures.  My landscape. Warm colours.  I didn't add blue till later. Yu-Chieh didn't quite know where to start at first.  So she randomly picked her happy colours. Purple and Pink...

Broken, twisted, degenerated souls

I had a chat with my friends today over coffee, chocolate and a lil whiskey in the chocolate :D. We were chatting about everything and nothing in particular. But then, the 'hot potato' of recent LGBT parades and demonstrations came up in the conversation. There is no simple way to address this issue. A lot has been said and written about it already. I don't have the mental patience to articulate all my reflections coherently right now. But some of these words came up today, "Twisted, Broken, Mutated". I want to clarify here that Jesus loves everyone and therefore, I really do try to do the same(actually I wish didn't have to clarify things. But then, this is a public blog). It's not meant to be a condescending gesture or statement. But just because God loves us ( and especially because God loves us), does not mean that we can re-tailor truths to suit our own feelings.  My friends asked, "So are you asking a person who believes they are bo...

Little steps forward

Been trying to do more 'singer-songwriter' gigs lately, as opposed to ministry, or musicals, or weddings (though there have been PLENTY of weddings lately. And because they have all been pretty good friends of ming, I've been singing/playing for a lot of them).  I have my jewelry designer/art-entrepreneur  friend, Brendon to thank here, because he is very proactive about encouraging anything cultural or artsy-fartsy in Taipei. We were chatting one day, and he asked me if I wanted to sing regularly for his 'salon'-like group meet called "Dream Gallery" every first Sunday of the month. So I said yes, and I've done it twice now.  Theo accompanied me the first time The little meet was at Brendon's 'paintertainment' cafe called The Escape Artist My lovely lifegroup mates who are always supporting my gigs :D  The multi-talented boss himself, Brendon New friends I met that night who have become fans :D ...
